Khalifa Receives His e-Passport and Emphasizes Support of Well-Being for Homeland and Citizens

President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received his UAE electronic passport (e-passport) at Al Diyafa Palace in Al Mushrif in the presence of His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. 

Shaikh Khalifa expressed his admiration on the modern design and high-tech features of the passport following its receipt from Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

President Khalifa on this occasion said that this achievement comes in the framework of the implementation of governmental strategy on improving the government work to keep pace with international standards.

He also stressed that these measures and initiatives will help in building a high-level security cover keeping pace with modern technological developments practiced in the most advance countries of the world.

His Highness also stressed his support of all what would bring progress and prosperity to the citizens, especially that the UAE is now on a verge of a new phase of development and growth based on knowledge and modern science. . He pointed out that all these initiatives will reinforce this trend, and will sets UAE within the countries that take the technical potential of high quality as an important tool in their security measures.

He expressed his appreciation to the leaders, officers and members of the Ministry of Interior pointing out that this achievement will foster efforts to further consolidate state’s security and stability.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, Shaikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler‘s Representative in the Eastern Region Lt.General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Executive Council Member, Dr. Shaikh Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs along with a number of Shaikhs, ministers and senior officials.

The HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his happiness on this occasion, and said: "The e-Passport Project that our High leadership urged us on the speed of completion and provide for the sons of the nation, works to provide the highest rates of protection for citizens with its specifications and global standards as well as to enable them to check and move and travel more quickly and easily."

Shaikh Saif on the occasion expressed his delight and said: “This national pilot project is another step towards modernization of the country led by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa and with the support of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates”.

The Ministry of the Interior has recently started issuing the e-passports for citizens in accordance with the technical and security requirements issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization, as it succeeded in the completion of the project before the deadline of 2014.

The new design of the e-Passport that takes into account the specific nature of traditional Arab-Islamic in the UAE Carrying a internal picture of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi in addition to the standard international technical specifications and high-tech which is characterized by, as it contains all the data of the passport holder encrypted easy to read from the devices of modern technology in ports and international airports around the world, the new passport avoid the negatives in terms of fraud and provide more protection of personal data or to avoid the similarity of names, and others features.
