The Ministry of Interior, represented by Residency and Foreigners Affairs Departments all over the country, completed its preparations to receive violators of the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners who want to benefit from the two-month amnesty declared by the Ministry of Interior. The amnesty period is from December 4, 2012 to February 4, 2013.

Major General Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports, explained that the state Residency and Foreigners Affairs Departments will receive violators during morning and afternoon shifts. He added that specialized staff was assigned, and advanced equipment was provided to complete violators’ departure procedures, and guarantee a normal and seamless workflow.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Major General Al Menhali during his tour on the various centers established for this purpose; namely, the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Directorate General in Sharjah and the Investigations and Violators’ Follow-up Department at the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Directorate General in Dubai, located in the Al Aweer suburb.

The officials of both departments briefed Major General Al Menhali on the efforts exerted to receive offenders and the preparations to complete their transactions. He also reviewed the equipment and measures undertaken to ensure a seamless process.

He noted that the initiative reflects the generosity of the higher leadership to the Law of Residence violators. It is an opportunity for overstaying individuals wishing to leave the country and have their accumulated penalties waived. It also aims to provide them with various means to easily complete their transactions.

Major General Al Menhali also lauded the role played by various media outlets throughout the two-week media campaign preceding the amnesty period.
“Media outlets have succeeded in conveying the message, which aims to eradicate the illegal residence issue throughout the country, due to its dangerous impacts on stability and security,” he added.

He also thanked all the staff working at various Residency and Foreigners Affairs Departments in the country for their tireless efforts in receiving violators.

During his tour, Major General Al Menhali was accompanied by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Head of Naturalization Department; Colonel Ahmed Sultan Al Khoder, Head of Coordination and Security Cooperation Department; Colonel Yusuf Khouri, Deputy Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi; and Colonel  Ali Ibrahim Al Tunaiji, Head of Violators and Foreigners Affairs Department.
